S.I.M.P.L.
PROJECT
S.I.M.P.L. is part of Italy's initiatives aimed at promoting innovation and sustainability in agriculture. The project advocates for an integrated approach that combines advanced monitoring techniques, preventive strategies, and targeted interventions to reduce the incidence and spread of downy mildew and powdery mildew.
By using smart sensors and early warning systems, environmental parameters and disease development will be monitored in real time. At the same time, eco-friendly biological and chemical control solutions will be studied and applied to minimize pesticide use and promote sustainable crop management.

This will enable the development of predictive artificial intelligence systems that can significantly improve production quality and reduce management costs.

Through greenhouse experiments, traditional table tomato varieties will be used to enhance plant resilience against pathogen attacks. This multidisciplinary approach, integrating scientific research, technological innovation, and sustainable practices, will help strengthen the competitiveness of the agricultural sector and ensure safe, high-quality food production.

The SIMPL project is funded under the 'I-NEST – Interconnected Nord-Est Innovation Ecosystem' program, which is part of Italy's National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), specifically under M4C2 – Investment 1.5, focusing on the creation and strengthening of 'Innovation Ecosystems for Sustainability.' The project aligns with the objectives of the European initiative NextGenerationEU, which aims to promote sustainable and ecological projects to achieve the goals of the Green Deal.
